From the electrifying energy of Carnaval at the Sambadrome to the powerful history at the Cultural Center of Little Africa—a place rich with African heritage and resilience—we explored the connections that tie us to the past.

Of course, no trip to Rio is complete without taking in the stunning beauty of Ipanema Beach, where the waves and golden sands remind us to embrace the journey.

This journey also reminded us of the Transatlantic Slave Trade, which forcibly connected Africa to the Americas, including Brazil—the largest destination for enslaved Africans. The stories of our ancestors are woven across continents, shaping cultures, traditions, and family histories. Genealogy isn’t just about names on a chart—it’s about discovering the roots that connect us across the world.
