Year in Review: A Look Back at 2024

What an incredible year it’s been for Finding Deep Roots! We’ve had the privilege of engaging with so many wonderful communities, sharing the joy and discovery of genealogy. Here’s a glimpse into the journey:

• Black History Month Workshops
  This February, we connected with history enthusiasts at Everyday Cafe at a book signing and in the Sto Rox Library, multiple branches of the Carnegie Library of Pittsburgh, Penn Hills Library, and the Carnegie Homestead Library we celebrated Black History Month. Each session was filled with rich discussions, hands-on research, and inspiring stories.
• Women’s History Month
  In March, we celebrated the stories of resilient women throughout history, uncovering family narratives that highlight strength and perseverance again at the Carnegie Library of Pittsburgh branches.
• Roots Revealed: The Blog
  This spring we reinvented our blog with more dynamic images and videos of current events and company news. With those updates we’ve included a quarterly newsletter called, Roots Revealed. We are excited to share Roots Revealed via email and our subscriber list.
• Kinship Cohorts with JADA House International
  This special collaboration allowed us to overview of Finding Deep Roots: The Workbook with cohort participants. We discuss tracing their family roots and building deeper connections to their ancestry.
• Homestead Cemetery History Day
  Closing out the summer, we explored the fascinating stories of those resting in Homestead Cemetery, bringing their contributions and legacies to light in a meaningful way with a genealogy workshop with walking tour participants.

Each event was an opportunity to empower individuals with the tools to discover their heritage and preserve their family stories for future generations.
