“Granny Nanny” to be honored with NYU documentary!

Discover the remarkable story of Granny Nanny, a Jamaican national hero and leader in the First Maroon War against the British. “Nanny was a leader of the Maroons at the beginning of the 18th century. She was known by both the Maroons and the British settlers as an outstanding military leader who became, in her lifetime and after, a symbol of unity and strength for her people during times of crisis.” Learn more about her inspiring story on the Jamaica Information Service website.

A new documentary base on the life of Nanny will be screened at the King Juan Carlos I of Spain Center’s screening room at NYU on October 10th, from 6pm to 8pm.

Nanny’s legacy continues to inspire and unite us. If you are in the NYC area don’t miss this unforgettable event! Reserve your spot now.
